5G Consumption Users are Consuming More Data Comparison with 4G Mobile Broadband Index Report

5G Data Consumption in India: Not much time has passed when smartphones and internet reached the hands of common people in India for the first time. The rapidly changing world of technology has limited the use of feature phones within a few years. The main reason for this change in India is considered to be the affordability of both smartphones and internet i.e. data. It is often mentioned that people of India use fast internet at a much cheaper rate than many developed countries. However, now this picture may seem to be changing.

Data consumption increased four times

Recently Nokia Mobile Broadband Index report was released, in which it has been said that the consumption of 5G data in India is four times more than that of 4G. Not only this, the report has also revealed that the people of India are far ahead of the rest of the world in terms of using the internet. The report shows that today people are rapidly adopting 5G technology, due to which 5G traffic is increasing significantly in various telecom circles. People are the maximum users of 5G in the metro circle also. Its share in total mobile data traffic has reached 20 percent.

More money is being spent on recharge

When the internet speed is high, the data consumption is also high accordingly. This is the reason that as data speed is increasing, data consumption is also increasing. Due to better internet speed in 5G as compared to 4G, data consumption is increasing 4 times more. Along with data consumption, the burden on people’s pockets is also increasing because people have to recharge more when data gets exhausted soon.

5G data consumption is increasing rapidly

Data consumption in India has increased by 20 percent on an annual basis to 17.4 exabytes. One exabyte is equal to one billion gigabytes (GB). In this, on an average a user is consuming 24 GB data every month. It has also been said in the report that advanced 5G availability and performance, easy availability of affordable devices in a wide range and availability of other services will accelerate the growth of 5G in the future.

15 percent share in total data traffic

Of the 796 million smartphones in the country, 17 percent or about 13.4 million are 5G devices. People of India use the internet extensively. This is the reason why mobile phone manufacturing companies are rapidly making 5G devices. Compared to the last five years, the annual increase in data usage has been 26 percent. The share of 5G in the total data traffic in 2023 was 15 percent.
